Looks like they’re putting out material by Tatsumi on a chronological plan. Each book below represents material from a stretch of 1 or 2 yrs.
I like the design for this series. These are really pleasing hardcover books. You might be able to check them out from a local library – but they’re worth buying outright ($19.95 each) if you believe you’ll be returning to them repeatedly.
These came out, respectively, in 2005, 2006, & 2008. The last couple yrs, D&Q has put out other Tatsumi stuff – but not in the specific format \ design used for these three volumes.

/ May 10, 2010It’s hard to tell from pictures, but if the binding on those volumes is as nice as it looks, $19.95 is a very reasonable price, especially for graphic novels.

/ May 11, 2010Yeah, they’re great books. Each one contains about 200 pages of material. The price is not out-of-sight.
I like how they’ve got front and back matter, in addition to the actual comics. Each book has a short intro. At the back, each book has a short Q&A section, as well as a photo of Tatsumi from the period.

/ May 13, 2010That sounds great. Do you know if D & Q does that routinely? I’ve noticed that Fantagraphics often puts in either generous front matter and virtually nothing in the back, or generous back matter and virtually nothing in the front. It sounds like these books have a better balance.
