I remember when this hit the news:
“Even Laura Bush pushed back against her husband’s aggressive advocacy of a federal gay marriage ban. In an interview with Fox News in 2006, the former first lady said, “I don’t think it should be used as a campaign tool, obviously. It requires a lot of sensitivity to just talk about the issue – a lot of sensitivity.””

Which sounded like sanity to me.

G.W. Bush and Crazy John McCain are the best arguments against marriage of any kind I’ve ever seen. If there were a ballot measure to dissolve their marriages, I’d have to think long and hard before voting against it. Turn those women free!

I was waiting for her to back down, but she didn’t, so the post went up.

Yeah some people choose to be married to really unpleasant people. You just have to shake your head, wish them the best, and walk away, I’ve learned.
