Hanukkah “Phranc Talk”

Everybody’s favorite all-American Jewish lesbian folk singer, Phranc, has posted a new installment of her YouTube variety show Phranc Talk.  Since tonight is the first night of Hanukkah and there’s nothing more appropriate to an all-American Jew than a Hannukah celebration, that’s what she and Pickles have.  Of course she plays the ukulele.

    My fav part (besides the Phranc/Pickles duets)- “show . . . .

whoever it is up there . . or around us”

    Happy Chanukah Phranc and Pickles!

This afternoon I was taking a nap and Pickles came to me in my dream. He was in fine voice. when I wke up I knew “A” was posting this and I am glad. I really loved hearing them pray together. I wish the shot had been closer when she was lighting the candles.

C: I like the moment before she says that line, she’s so still. It’s hard to tell hether it’s deliberately exaggerated and she means to call attention to her role as a skeptical believer.

B: It was interesting to me that your first words as you woke were a slurred “too loud, Pickles.” I was surprised you recognized Pickles in your sleep. Yes, the prayer was very touching.

I think Phranc spontaneously paused because she knew she was (eventually) addressing an audience. She was wondering what she should call something which has many names and which many people regard as imaginary.

I wonder how much she prepares for each installment of Phranc Talk. If she does a full rehearsal, then she may have paused spontaneously the first time through and then decided to play that pause up to emphasize her point.

She does seem to rehearse a lot.
