Somewhere online I saw a parody of Rene Magritte’s famous painting of the man in the bowler with the green apple obscuring his face. The parody showed GWB in a bowler with a shoe obscuring his face. Of course I can’t find it anymore.
That’s funny, too. Gosh, I wish I’d kept that Magritte thing- Bush is instantly recognizable even though the green shoe obscures his face almost as completely as the green apple obscures the man’s face in Magritte’s painting.
The thing I find the second most interesting about the video (the first being the shoe whizzing through the air) is how casual Iraq Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki appears, almost like he expected the event. He didn’t even flinch. But then his post-shoe statements were all about being offended.

/ January 20, 2009That’s terrific! I almost watched Bush’s final press conference in hopes that the entire press corps would close with a mass shoe-throwing.
