    Everything is OK here. As it stands, I’m inhabiting the “station” with one other full-time person and a half-time person. Insofar as anybody is in charge, it’s me: I’m in this situation primarily by random chance & only secondarily due to my sterling qualifications. This means I get extra work on top of teaching and various chances to “get in trouble with headquarters.”

    that sounds great. there’s basically zero chance i will ever be in charge of anything, even with scare quotes. so i can only deem you fortunate and applaud your success.
