I really enjoyed looking at this picture. I played with a slinky not too long ago. I had forgotten how hypnotic they can be. They are like video games only a lot cheaper and simpler.

/ October 19, 2008I never much cared for Slinky, but I always loved the song.
Here’s the version I grew up with:
This is apparently an older version of the song.
There are also a lot of videos on youtube where other products are praised to the tune of the Slinky song…

/ October 19, 2008Wow I didn’t know it was possible to not like Slinky. I thought liking Slinky was part of the human experience. The soothing effect of Slinky was one of the high points of my childhood, along with Magic Mirror.

/ October 23, 2008I don’t dislike Slinky, I just never saw much point in it. It’s a poor substitute for Play-Doh, I tell you that.

/ October 23, 2008The point of Slinky is that it’s a spring, and . . oh never mind.
I always thought Play-Doh was a poor substitute for Crayons.

/ November 11, 2008I’d rather smell Magic Markers.
acilius
/ November 11, 2008Either sniff Magic Markers or the stuff that comes out of the inside of an Etch-a-Sketch when one breaks open.

/ November 11, 2008Hmmm what does that smell like??
I also looove the smell of gasoline and PVC . . heavenly . .

/ November 12, 2008I’m not sure what that stuff is, I think it’s mercury and lead. That’s why I’m so brilliant, I spent my childhood ingesting mercury and lead.
Here’s a link to my favorite Slinky-themed cartoon.

That cartoon reminds me of you and the believer.
acilius
/ November 12, 2008See, it reminded me of you and Larry. He wears a giant Slinky sometimes, doesn’t he?
